You are exactly right, without good teachers our children are being robbed of their education. Without a good education system the states misses economic development pportunties. Thank you for your website! I emailed each of the representatives on your list. As a previous teacher in WV who made the switch 15 years ago, I would still love to work in Jefferson County. However, I could not afford to support my family. The pay difference is immense. After 15 years, I make $31,000 more than I would in Jefferson County for the same job. As a parent, it is sad to see teachers leave the county. However, as a teacher I personally understand their dilemma. We must do something before it's too late. If we don't, the only future WV will offer our children will be in a coal mine.

The WVDE members are indeed difficult to find. I, myself, could not locate them on their web site as well. In fact, I emailed the First Lady to inform her of that fact. We all need to inform the governor, the state superintendent and anyone else of this problem. It won't change until we demand it. I could NOT find any emails for the WVDE members or for the senators and delegates of the WV Legislature.
